Game 3

Game 3 - June 20, 2010 - To anyone watching the game between the Spitballs and The Dude's, all signs pointed to a pitchers duel. Keegan Odle, aka Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, (1-0, 2.25ERA) and The Dude's ace on the hill seemed to have complete control through the first two innings. With one hit in the first inning, The Dude's showed the first spark of offense, only to have it dowsed by the Spitballs stifling defense. The Dragon then helped his own cause in the second with a single and was left stranded on first.

One run for The Dude's in the third brought a rejuvenated Spitballs offense to life as they put up two runs of their own. Not until the 4th inning did all hell break loose. While the Dude's (aka Balls Deep) threatened to put up another run, Jared Peres, aka Revolting Blob, stellar glove work at short stop plugged up any holes Balls Deep had plans of penetrating. Electricity jumped from the Balls bats in the bottom of the 4th inning. Fans were jumping out of their seats as the Spitballs put up 7 runs before recording an out. Led by Daniel Faulk's, aka Sting's, 3 run home run, the Spitballs went on to close out the game by putting up 4

more runs and mercy ruling their opponents 13-1. As expected with a late game, the team BPI was uncommonly low. Keep a look out though for that stat to spike over the next few weeks with a 8pm, 4pm, and 6pm games the next 3 weeks.

This week's Most Outstanding Player and Heavyweight Champion of the Diamond was clearly Faulk/Sting. With only two at bats he managed to rack up 4 RBI's on a triple and a home run, which is his second in two games this year. The left hander showed he can wield a bat both in the ring and on the field. Sting was interviewed after the game and is quoted as saying "I don't understand American football at all. It looks like all-in wrestling with crash helmets." When reminded that he had in fact played softball, not football, he Scorpion Death Dropped the reporter.
