Game 10
Game 10 - August 22, 2010 - I would like to start things out by thanking all the fans who came out and helped us celebrate the 2010 Spitballs softball season. We had a great time and lots of good people came out to the park to cheer us on. Secondly, I would like to curse the team of "We Love Big Hits" for not showing up and taking the opportunity for us to lay another ass beating down away from us. They showed extremely bad form for not calling to give us a heads up that a forfeit was eminent and we were left with no competition. I can't say I'm surprised by what happened, seeing as we're clearly the dominant force in the league and backed by a dozen or so of the best fans this game has ever seen, they probably figured they didn't stand a chance, and they were right.
On the bright side of the situation, Dave Beran graciously got a new bat for the Spitballs to use. We broke it in with a little batting practice. We got some fielding practice in as well, mostly with a beer in hand and mostly at shortstop. It turns out that this team has a lot more left side infielders than was previously known about. We even had the opportunity to honor our fans by getting a few of them on the field to hit some balls.
No need to report beers drank this week. Everyone's BPI was infinity seeing as we played zero innings. Also, everyone hit for the cycle, scored 4 times and had 10 RBIs (Even though the game will go down in the record books as a 7-0 win). Nice work this week everyone.
Don't forget, next week for our two games we will be having Throwback Spitballs Jersey Day. You have the opportunity to sport two different old school shirts with our games at 4pm and 6pm. See you at the ballfields!
Thanks again to all the friends, family, and
fans for joining us during the 2010 Spitballs
Fan Appreciation Dan!!!
